Certified Organic Laura is a very high yielding meadow fescue with an early spring growth and an early to medium heading date. Organic Laura establishes very well with perennial ryegrass. Organic Laura is especially recommended in cold and wet areas. It is high yielding with the first cut, with excellent regrowth in the aftermath. Organic Laura has high yields of very digestible dry matter in all cuts. It has proven persistence in Austria with high yields up to 5-6 years. It is also very aggressive with good winter hardiness.
- Excellent Digestibility
- Good Disease Resistance
- High Yield Potent
- Good Winterhardiness
- Widely Adaptable
Organic Laura establishes very quickly which makes it very competitive with perennial ryegrass. The first cut yields are very high combined with an excellent leafy regrowth in the aftermath. Therefore, Organic Laura has high yields of very digestible dry matter in all cuts. Because of the very leafy regrowth of this variety it is also very suitable for grazing or a combination of cut and grazing managements.
Of all the different grass species, Organic Laura has one of the broadest ranges of application. From dry hay to pasture, from heavy soils to light, Organic Laura can provide good tonnage and excellent quality. Organic Laura is a semibunch type, cool season, European grass that has exceptional winter hardiness. It will yield slightly less than tall fescue and orchardgrass but has better fiber digestibility and palatability for grazing applications.
Organic Laura will establish faster than tall fescue or orchardgrass but will still benefit from a nurse crop. Seeding depth should be between 0.25 and 0.5 inches, or when planted with a legume, 0.25 inches is preferred. Use a low rate of a small grain or combine with festulolium or ryegrass to help suppress weeds. Organic Laura is a good no-till option but will not express itself until the following year.
Organic Laura needs fertile soils for optimum performance. They work well in intensively managed grazing or hay production if not mowed lower than 3 inches.
