Product Description
Cascade teff seed is a medium maturing variety well suited to hay production or grazing in the hot summer months. It has been tested in several locations across the US and has done quite well from Oregon to New York and into Kentucky as well. Corvallis is a warm season annual grass with an appearance similar to orchardgrass. It has a finer texture and better density than other warm season annuals such as sorghum sudan hybrids. It also dries down much quicker which is a huge benefit for hay production. We’ve heard lots of positive reports from horse owners who’ve used Corvallis hay as horse feed too.
- MEDIUM MATURITY
- GOOD DISEASE RESISTANCE
- HIGH YIELD POTENTIAL
- EXCELLENT FORAGE QUALITY
- VERY HEAT TOLERANT
Cascade teff seed is quite small and one of the major challenges for using the product is getting the seed rate light enough and ensuring good seed-to-soil contact. We recommend planting Corvallis in a manner similar to alfalfa. A firm seedbed is very important for successful planting and the seedling depth should be approximately 1/4 inch. We also suggest that fields be rolled after planting if possible. Corvallis is a warm season grass that needs temperatures of at least 60 degrees for germination. Available ranges depending upon the Byron Seeds and King’s AgriSeeds warehouses.
